Salt City Lindy Hop
Code of Conduct
As established August 1, 2019

The Salt City Lindy Hop is a welcoming community of dancers from all walks of life, offering lessons, social dances and events for Lindy Hop, Blues, Balboa and Swing.

We maintain a strict “Safe Space” policy. No one shall be made to feel unwelcome by any means by anyone of our members or guests. We do not discriminate in any way on the basis of race, sex, gender identity, creed, ability, level, etc.

We adhere to the ILHC Code of Conduct in that we are “dedicated to providing a harassment-free event experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof). We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery in social situations are not appropriate for any event venue, including dances, workshops, competitions, Twitter, Facebook, and other online media. Event participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the event without a refund at the discretion of the event organizers.”

The Salt City Lindy Hop will enforce:

  • Gender-neutral teaching terms: We use words like “leaders” and “followers” rather than “men” and “ladies.”
  • No experience necessary: We welcome dancers of any level. We will go to great lengths to make beginners feel just as welcome as our “regulars.” We will never make an individual feel that they are not good enough to participate in any of our classes, events, etc.
  • Respectful physical contact: Partner dancing is a physical activity. We do not tolerate sexual, aggressive, rough, or otherwise dangerous physical contact of any kind.
